Holistic Medicine and holistic health is what we practice and preach here at CARE Wellness Center, so our website wouldn’t be complete without offering a thorough definition and explanation as to what holistic medicine means and how important holistic health is to our practitioners.
Holistic medicine is a phrase that was coined in the early 1970’s. The word holistic comes from the word HOLISM, and Socrates (4th century BC) once warned against treating only one part of the body “for the part can never be well unless the whole is well.”
Holistic medicine is a health care system which promotes a multifaceted relationship among all practitioners and patients involved. This system encompasses all states working optimally and in unity. Those states are the physical, mental, emotional, social and spiritual aspects of ones self and health.
It emphasizes the practice of looking at the whole person, including analysis and diagnosis of nutritional, physical, emotional, environmental, spiritual, social and lifestyle values.
At Care Wellness Center our holistic medical approach encompasses all modalities of diagnosis and treatment including:
- Acupuncture
- Chiropractic
- Physical Therapy
- Herbal medicine
- Energy Medicine
Holistic medicine focuses on educating the patient and becoming a partner with the patient, so they are equally responsible for the efforts to achieve balance and well-being.
Holistic Medicine is based on the law of nature which states that a whole is made up of inter-dependent parts. The earth is made up of elements, such as water, air, land, animals and plants. To sustain life, they have to be codependent upon each other, for what is happening to one is also felt by all of the other elements.
In the same way, an individual is made up of inter-dependent parts, which are the ones mentioned before – physical, mental, emotional, social and spiritual. When one part is not working at its optimal level, its function affects all of the other parts of that person.
In the past when your doctor would make a house call, he would practice medicine more holistically. The same doctor would treat the patient for their sore throat as well as their stomach pain. More than likely, that same doctor would deliver your baby. Nowadays, doctors are specializing in specific areas of health and medicine. Your primary care physician will send you to the Ob/Gyn or the Gastroenterologist or Allergist or even Psychiatrist before treating you.
At our Holistic Health Center – CARE Wellness – we have assembled a team of holistic doctors in Margate that treat a myriad of common conditions using the “whole body” approach.
Our doctors communicate daily on the well-being of you, the patient, and decide who is best fit to treat the condition, whether it be the acupuncture, chiropractic, massage therapy, nutritional guidance, or physical therapy.
Or maybe a team approach would be most beneficial as it sometimes is.
Not only do you get the “Cadillac of health care” with this holistic system, but this approach also opens up the direct lines of communication with you and all your holistic health practitioners and assures that you are receiving the best holistic health care available to you at our center.
