Dr. Aki Takahashi, DAOM received her master’s degree in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine from Atlantic Institute of Oriental Medicine (ATOM) in Ft. Lauderdale, FL (2007), as well as her clinical doctor’s degree, Doctor of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (DAOM) in Internal Medicine from ATOM (2018), with the goal of practicing medicine with general practitioners and specialists in both holistic and western medicine (integrated medicine).
As part of her DAOM curriculum, Dr. Takahashi specialized in her double major of Pain Management and Women’s Health Issues at the American College of Traditional Chinese Medicine (ACTCM) located in San Francisco, California (2012-2016). The DAOM program at ACTCM required that extensive clinical observation hours be spent with conventional western medical (WM) providers to cultivate professional relationships and to better understand WM practice with the goal of maximizing patient benefits. In addition, Dr. Takahashi spent considerable time following Internists, Cardiologists, and Physical Therapists within the Cardiac Care unit at Marin General Hospital in Marin county, California.
Upon attaining her DAOM, Dr. Takahashi elected to pursue her career and enrolled as a PhD candidate in the Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine (SHUTCM) located in Shanghai, China. SHUTCM is a collaborative international program between ATOM and SHUTCM, the first of its kind in the world.
